Dr. Vicinanza's research largely focuses on understanding the health benefits of the Mediterranean Diet in the geriatric population and the impact of nutrition for the prevention of age-related diseases. Dr. Vicinanza conducted basic research studies at Cohen's lab (https://gero.usc.edu) investigating the role of the Mitochondrial-derived peptide MOTS-c as an insulin sensitizing, and its potential role in Type 2 Diabetes.
